In-House Baseball Frequently Asked Questions:

  1.  When do practices and games start?  What days of the week are they?

Indoor practices will start in March and are usually at Salisbury Middle School.  There are usually two indoor practices a week until we are able to practice outside.  We will not know the exact days of practices until registrations are done and we have gym availability from the district.  Indoor practices will only be Monday thru Thursday.  Outside practices can be Monday thru Sunday and can be two or three days a week.

We will not know game times or schedules until registrations are done and we have the number of teams set.  Games will begin late April.

   2. What is the Concession Stand deposit and Fundraiser buy-out?

Concession Stand: Each parent is required to work one or two shifts in the concession stand during the season. We ask for a check or cash deposit of $100 that will be cashed if you do not meet your concession stand obligation.  Since SYA is a volunteer run organization, we ask for everyone to help so that we can continue to operate the stand and not rely on the same people to do it all the time.  SYA is looking for your time, not your money. The Concession Stand is a vital revenue source for SYA.

Fundraiser Buy-Out: The In-House program relies on doing fundraising to keep our registration costs as low as they are.  The fundraiser can be lottery tickets, Wawa coupons, Hoagie sale, etc.  If you would like to choose to opt-out of doing the fundraiser, an opt-out fee of $90 would be required.  Since we do rely on fundraising, SYA requires a minimum amount of fundraiser sales per player or the opt-out fee so we make sure we are getting contributions from all players.

   3. When will I hear from my coach?

After registrations are complete, teams will be set and coaches assigned.  Once coaches are assigned, they will communicate with their teams to introduce themselves and to distribute additional information (IE. uniforms, pictures, practice days, etc.).  Since registrations run thru the end of February, teams will not be set until the beginning of March.

  4. What do I do if I want to coach, be an assistant coach or be a team parent?

SYA relies on volunteers to operate – as Directors, Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Team Parents or practice helpers. We encourage as many parents as possible to help or volunteer as much as they can, when they can.  If you are interested in being a coach, assistant coach, team parent, doing field set-up, etc., please contact Jess Bachman at and/or Arden Strickland at
